Community the GCU Way

*Where People Are More Important than Their Money*

GCU is a community based credit union.  People make up our membership and they are important!  Each year GCU supports several community based events from the annual U.S. Marine Corp Toys for Tots drive to Money Smart Week to Christmas in July with the Northfield Food Pantry. Join us in celebrating each and every person that makes up our credit union community!

Every child deserves a little Christmas: the mission of the U.S. Marine Corps Reserve Toys for Tots Program is to collect new, unwrapped toys each year and distribute those toys as Christmas gifts to needy children in the community in which the campaign is conducted.

The primary goal of Toys for Tots is to deliver — through a shiny new toy - a message of hope to underprivileged or displaced children that will motivate them to grow into responsible, productive, patriotic citizens and community leaders.

Since there is proof that toys help children grow to be better adjusted and happier, more productive members of our society it is important to support the campaign. Many of us either forget or have no idea that right here on the North Shore there are many needy families. The majority of our collections stay right here! Contact Maryellen Lovell at 847-724-6306 for details.

Our holiday tree is a “community tree” decorated with symbols of our membership: members, business owners and local organizations are all welcome to place an ornament representing themselves on the tree!

GCU participates in Money Smart Week at the Glenview Public Library each April.
