The Glenview Credit Union was organized April 30, 1941 as the Glenview Catholic Credit Union to serve parishioners of Our Lady of Perpetual Help Parish. Later it merged with the Menorah Credit Union and the members of B'nai B'rith. The charter was then further expanded to reach out to the rest of the community, which was reflected in the name change to Glenview Credit Union.
The Glenview Credit Union, like all credit unions, is a non-profit financial cooperative. Although its services and products are similar to a
bank, there are clear differences, which are advantages to you as a member.
Customers are shareholders or members that wholly own the credit union,
instead of stockholders who may not even be customers of the bank. Profits
earned are returned to the membership in the form of lower loan rates,
higher savings rates, and low or no-cost financial services.
The ultimate responsibility for the direction of the Credit Union rests with our volunteer Board of Directors. The Board of Directors is elected by the membership each year at the Annual Meeting by the membership in attendance or their proxy. Membership is available to those living or working in Glenview &
Northfield Township, which includes Golf, Northfield, Northbrook and
portions of Niles, Prospect Heights, Wilmette, Glencoe and Deerfield.
Family members of an existing member are eligible to join, too. Once you
become a member, you are always a member.
